HTC One M8 is a mid-range smartphone released in March 2014 and it was among the first devices that received Android 6.0 Marshmallow. First it was updated the unlocked version and it took some time for carriers all over the world to roll out the firmware. Meanwhile, Google has released 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but only a few Samsung devices have received it. So, if owners of the HTC One (M8) want to install this version on their devices will do it using JAZZ custom ROM.
This JAZZ custom ROM is based on 6.0.1 Marshmallow and it can be installed only on HTC One (M8) GSM model. So, before proceeding with the installation, make sure that you have the right One M8 model, it is rooted and has more than 80 percent battery left.
So, the first step is to download the JAZZ Android v6.0 Marshmallow custom ROM, as well as Google Apps (from the internet) to your computer, connect your HTC One M8 to your PC using a USB cable and copy and paste the two zip files into the phone’s SD card memory. Then, move boot.img file in the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory, turn off the phone and unplug it from the PC.
In continuation, you’ll enter into Bootloader mode by press holding Volume down and Power buttons, then you’ll go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools on your PC and open Command prompt, where you will type in: fastboot flash boot boot.img. After that, you’ll press enter and then you’ll type in: fastboot reboot and follow instructions that appear on the screen. You’ll select BOOTLOADER and enter into Recovery Mode, then you’ll select “wipe data/factory reset” to clear the phone’s memory, and “wipe cache partition” to clear the cache memory.
Then, you’ll return to the ClockworkMod recovery, select “advanced”, type “wipe dalvik cache” and go to the main recovery screen, where you’ll tap “install zip from SD card”. After tapping “choose zip from sdcard”, you’ll head to the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM .zip file in SD card and start the installation process. Do the same for Google Apps and after the installation process completes, go to +++++Go Back+++++ and restart the phone. Then, you’ll confirm the installation of JAZZ Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow custom ROM by going to your phone’s Settings > About phone.
