A new WhatsApp BETA version 2.16.98 has been released for Android smartphones and today we will talk about it. First of all, this new update doesn’t enable some functions that have been already implemented and it doesn’t come with other big chances, but from now on, you will be able to send invitations via links to groups.

The WhatsApp 2.16.98 APK (installation) file has been increased by only 12KB and it has 224 modified files. In addition, a new icon for invitations via links has been added and it was named “ic_link_invite.png”. It is good to know that the latest WhatsApp STABLE version is 2.16.95 and it can be installed on your Android smartphone without having to become a beta tester.

However, if you want to try out the latest WhatsApp BETA version, you will need to head to this webpage and tap on the “BECOME A TESTER” button. After you become a WhatsApp BETA tester on the Google Play Store, open the official Android store that you have installed on your smartphone and search for WhatsApp 2.16.98. Once the installation is complete, you will need to use your mobile phone number to get verified and log into your WhatsApp account.

HINT: We remind you that this WhatsApp version is currently in BETA phase, which means that you will most likely find bugs and other issues that are quite annoying. In other words, if you want a bug-free WhatsApp application, install the latest STABLE version of it (2.16.95).

We don’t have any news regarding the Video Calling feature or when it will be added to the application, but according to some rumors, in a few weeks we should see it on a WhatsApp BETA version for Android smartphones.
