There is great news for the Surface Pro 4 device owners out there as Microsoft has released its cumulative drivers and firmware pack scheduled for this month. This is made available as a download link and it will install new driver versions on the devices.
More specifically all of the following Microsoft Drivers will be updated to 30.10586.7035.1976: Control Logic, Imaging Signal processor 2500, the AVStream Camera 2500, CSI2 Host Controller plus the Camera drivers – IR camera Front, Camera Front and Camera Rear. The same version will be applied to the Camera drivers set with the purpose of improving Windows Hello Stability.
If you’re a Surface pro user, this is how you get the Firmware May 2016 update: you go to the downloadable link and you save and unzip the downloadable file. Then, you check all of the drivers included in the install window and you follow the instructions for a successful installation. After the entire process is completed, it’s advisable that you reboot your tablet to make sure that all of the changes will be activated.
However, keep in mind that this firmware and drivers pack is only compatible with devices that run Windows 10. So, if you don’t have this OS on your tablet, you’ll have to download it as well.
Ideally, if you want your device to be up to date, make sure you regularly check the Windows website to see when a new update is available for download.
If you happen to go for the Windows Update, you’ll have to wait more for your device to get the May 2016 firmware update, because this option provides updates for devices in stages.
So don’t start thinking about the upcoming Surface Pro 5 just yet, because with this new firmware and driver update, the Pro 4 will be even better than before.
