Many Samsung devices have already received the Android Marshmallow update, but there are a few models that are still waiting for the update to reach them. Fortunately, for those who own the Samsung Galaxy A9, it seems that the long wait is over since they will receive the update soon.

The Marshmallow update is currently only for Galaxy A9 users in China, where the device first became available when it was released early this year. It will target unlocked devices with the model number SM A9000. However, it’s safe to assume that the update will eventually make its way to other regions and reach A9 owners in other countries.

Samsung Galaxy A9 units in China will receive the Android 6.0.1 update, which brings new security patches as well as other exciting and much-awaited features. One of these is Doze, which helps extend the phone’s battery life by reducing the background activity of non-essential apps. Another feature is Google Now on Tap, which allows users to do a quick search for a certain word or phrase without having to leave the app or window they’re currently in.

The Android 6.0.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy A9 will be available over the air (OTA). Users will receive a notification when the update becomes available for their device, but they can also manually check its availability by going to Settings >> About Device >> Software Update on their phone.

The Marshmallow update for the Galaxy A9 will have the build number A9000ZCU1BPE2. It will more or less be 1GB in size, so users will have to check that they have enough memory space before downloading the update. They must also ensure that they have enough battery (at least 50 percent battery life) and that they have a strong and stable Wi-Fi internet connection.

The Galaxy A9 is the first model in Samsung’s A Series to receive the Marshmallow update. However, its siblings won’t be far behind it. The Samsung Galaxy A8, for example, has reportedly received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which is a sign that it will receive the Marshmallow update soon. There are also reports that the Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) will be getting the Android 6.0.1 update in the coming weeks.
