Today we will compare the newly released HTC Desire 825 with the older Desire 820 that arrived in November 2014. They’re both phablets with a plastic body and a dual tone design, but the Taiwanese manufacturer has come up with a more fashionable design on the new model.

Designs

The HTC Desire 825 measures 156.9×76.9×7.4mm and weights 155 grams. Its body is made of plastic and it’s available in various colors, but on the back you’ll notice splashes or spots of colors which make the device look funky. Also, the power button has a different color. On the other hand, the HTC Desire 820 is thicker as it measures 157.7×78.7×7.7mm and weights 155 grams. Its dual-tone design comes in nine styles, and while the back panel has one color, the HTC logo, ring around the camera and physical buttons, as well as the border around the display have a secondary color.



Displays

The HTC Desire 825 has a super LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution 1280×720 pxiels at 267 ppi. The HTC Desire 820 comes with a LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 267 ppi. In other words, the company has kept the same display for the new HTC Desire 825 handset.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The HTC Desire 825 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The HTC Desire 820 has a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.0GHz, an Adreno 405 graphics card and 2GB of RAM.

Storages

Both devices have been released with an internal storage of 16GB, which can be expanded up to 200GB on the HTC Desire 825 and up to 128GB on the HTC Desire 820.

Cameras

The HTC Desire 825 sports a primary camera 13MP that features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, panorama, HDR, face detection, touch focus and a secondary camera of 5MP. The HTC Desire 820 has a primary camera of 13MP that features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and a secondary camera of 8MP.

Batteries

The HTC Desire 825 has a removable battery of 2700 mAh, which is slightly more powerful than the non-removable 2600 mAh cell that the HTC Desire 820 comes with.
