Sharing is caring!

Recently, WhatsApp fulfilled the wish of their users and released a desktop app. Thankfully, this is available both for Windows and Mac. What’s great is that the WhatsApp developers included the possibility of sharing files, a feature that is not that old on the mobile version either, having been released for Android and iOS just in March.

So how can you do that?

If you don’t have the desktop version yet, first thing you should do is to install it. Go to the download center for WhatsApp and choose whatever version suits you, for Mac or Windows. After the page opens, you will have to use your phone and scan the QR code, and then, WhatsApp will simply be mirrored on the desktop. You can also choose the web-based version, in which case you will have to go to www.web.whatsapp.com and scan the code.

In order to send a document after you installed the app, you have to click on the paperclip you can find in the top right side. A drop-down menu will appear, and you will see that you can share several things, videos, photos, take a photo with the webcam and also a document. You just have to click on Document and then select the file you wish to share.

You can send PDFs and Office types of documents, including PowerPoint presentations. However, you can only send files up to 100 MB, so this may be quite limited.

In the end, WhatsApp is still one of the best received apps on the market. There are some rumors that the developers might introduce some new features soon, such as recording voicemails, sending archives and a shortcut for calling back. However, we will just have to wait and see when these changes will be implemented.
