Recently Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 2016 models together. But the thing is that there was also a 2015 edition for these smartphone models. Here is a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 and the 2015 J5 model.

New features

The 2016 J5 features a bike mode which does a pretty awesome thing, if you activate it, it will notify you when you when there’s an incoming call, while at the same time informing the caller that you are currently on a bike ride. It will let you talk to the caller only if you stop the bike. Obviously, the purpose of the mode is to prevent road accidents and the 2015 did not have this feature.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 has a 5 inch HD Super AMOLED screen with 294 ppi in pixel density, whereas the 2016 model sports a 5.2 inch HD display but with less pixel density at 282 ppi.

Both the 2016 and the 2015 models have a Snapdragon 410 chipset, Adreno 306 graphics and a quad core 1.2 GHz processor. So nothing had changed there!

RAM and Storage

The 2016 comes in only one variant, the 16 GB one, while the Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 comes in two variants, an 8 GB one and a 16 GB. In terms of RAM capabilities, Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 has 2 GB, while the 2015 J5 has 1.5 GB

Both devices have the same camera specs: a 13 MP rear one with f/1.9 aperture plus LED flash and a front 5 MP one.

The J5 2016 has a better battery than the 2015 model, a 3100 mAh one. The later model had a 2600 mAh one.

Operating Platform

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 comes with the latest Android OS version, Marshmallow, while the 2015 one still sports Android Lollipop.

Color availability

Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 only comes in White, Gold and Black colors, whereas Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 also comes in Rose Gold.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 price in India

The 2016 J5 model is priced at 13.990 rupees, while the 2015 version costs about 11.000 rupees. However, the 2016 J5 price is justified if we consider the fact that is has a road prevention mode, plus Android Marshmallow.
