The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim –Dragonborn was the last installment of the game, which was released in 2012. Nothing followed after that except for The Elder Scrolls Online in 2014 and the Elder Scrolls Legends this year.
So what happened to The Elder Scrolls 6?
It wasn’t forgotten, but it certainly took a long time brewing. Game developer Bethesda Game Studios has finally announced a new installment. But they’re keeping everyone in suspense, as updates and release date will be showcased at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016that will be held in June. But taking into consideration other games that are on Bethesda’s priority list, the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 is likely to be extended.
One of the reasons that the game was delayed was because of Fallout 4, which is the main focus of the company at the moment. So it is in the works, but not a top priority. After Fallout 4, Skyrim 2 is next on Bethesda’s time schedule, before the Elder Scrolls 6 would be given attention. Clearly, it will take a while.
And based on the company’s timing, the game is likely to come out either in 2019 or 2020, which would coincide with The Elder Scrolls quadrennial release pattern. Well, you do the Math. If this will be the case, then there is a 7 to 8-year gap from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim series.
And when 2019 or 2020 comes, the release date for The Elder Scrolls 6 remains a big question. Bethesda’s VP of Press Release and Marketing Pete Hines has kept mum about the release dates. But he did let on in some exciting details.
- A creative team has been assigned to take care of the detailed work of the game that is guaranteed to wow fans.
- Game development will followpatterns already established, which means rumors about the settings of The Elders Scroll 6 being similar to Fallout 4’s settings is totally unfounded.
It is unclear whether Bethesda would have something for fans this coming E3 2016. Fans can only wait with bated breath, although it may not be a good idea to hold your breath for long, what with all the uncertainty and rumors going on.
But what a relief it would be if Bethesda would have answers to questions regarding The Elders Scroll 6. It will put speculations to rest, and increase excitement and attention for the game, which will make for a great marketing start.
