A new WhatsApp version has been released for Nokia Asha and other devices that run on Symbian S40, such as Nokia C3. WhatsApp 2.16.6 is the latest stable version that has been released for the mentioned devices and it comes with a new security option that can be found in the device’s Settings->Account->Security, where you will be able to disable and enable security notification, which will warn you if the security code of a contact has been changed.

The WhatsApp 2.16.6 .jar (installation) file for Nokia Asha and Nokia S40 devices has been increased by only 1KB. In addition, there have been over 460 files modified (from a total of 2039), without any files being added or deleted. This means that the developers have worked on optimizing the application.

Unfortunately, there is no news regarding the Voice Calling feature and if it will ever be added to the WhatsApp version for Nokia Asha devices.

We remind you that the developers of the WhatsApp application have already announced that they will stop supporting the Symbian S40 devices until the end of 2016. With other words, this application will stop being updated by the developers and eventually it will stop working.
