With a 7-year difference in between, Fallout fans expected Fallout 4 to be much better than Fallout 3. And it did prove to be better than its predecessor, but only on certain aspects. For one, Fallout 4 is exclusively for the current-generation consoles, such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is also available for computers, but it would work best on a gaming machine.

For another, Fallout 4 allows customization of the look of a character. Players can choose different skin colors and different faces. Imagine having Barack Obama as your main character. This could make a difference in the way you play Fallout.

Some players, however, are not that happy with the game’s graphics. It didn’t look next-gen enough for them, and there wasn’t much improvement since Fallout 3. But footage from Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 set side-by-side showed a remarkable difference graphics-wise.

A YouTube video clearly showed that monsters, weapons and people in Fallout 4 look so much better. They received a boost in appearance, making the base game obviously more superior than its predecessor. There is overall improvement in looks, lighting and animations.

The power armor in Fallout 4 comes in two different versions: monsters and super mutants. This makes the game more impressive than Fallout 3. And because Fallout 4 can use more system resources, tiny nuances of creature and character models are made more realistic.

So what exactly was the problem? The appearance of the game is partially dependent on the platform it is being played on. Most of the players who complained about Fallout 4 uses a PC system, which requires more mods to improve its appearance. With the new update released by Bethesda, PC players should see significant improvements.

The Fallout 4 1.5 update with the game’s PC version comes with several improvements. For example, Survival Mode is added, which offers more challenges to the gameplay. This requires players to think on their feet, and find ways to deal with higher lethality. In Survival Mode, characters are also more human in the sense that they have to deal with aspects that can affect their performance, such as fatigue, thirst, hunger and injuries that don’t heal automatically. This adds a whole different level of challenges to the game.

Fallout 4 may have received criticism for its appearance when it first came out. But taking into account all other aspects of the game, it turns out to be stellar than Fallout 3.
