It seems that there is a news embargo on the latest DLC for The Witcher 3, which explains why we haven’t really heard a lot about it.

This piece of info was uncovered by Design & Trend through the popular gaming site Sector, which mentions that they can reveal more information about the DLC when the news embargo for it lifts on May 10. Design & Trend theorizes that, on May 10, CD Projekt RED (the developer of The Witcher 3) won’t only give details about the DLC but will also release a trailer for it.

This may not yet be confirmed, but there’s a high chance that it turns out to be true. A reputable Polish gaming site has revealed that the DLC would be released on June 7. CD Projekt RED hasn’t confirmed this fact but has promised that the final version of the DLC will be available within the first half of 2016. Add this to the fact that the trailer for last year’s add-on Hearts Of Stone was released a month before its launch date, and it’s highly plausible that a trailer for the newest DLC would be released on May 10.

Still, it’s important to note that these are just rumors and analysis and must be taken with a grain of salt. What we do know is this: The Witcher 3’s latest expansion will be called “Blood and Wine” and that it would add 20 more hours to the game. It would be set in a new, mysterious region called Toussaint, which is cheerful and colorful on the surface but hides a lot of darkness underneath its facade.

The game’s senior animator Jamie Bury has also confirmed that there would be lots of new monsters that players can fight in Toussaint. He didn’t specify exactly what monsters these would be, although the screenshots from the DLC have revealed one of them: the Scolopendromorphs, which look like giant centipedes and are taller than humans.

Aside from the monsters, Bury has revealed that there would be new Gwent cards that players can collect. For those who aren’t familiar with The Witcher 3, Gwent is a mini game within the game and involves collectible cards. Players can get their hands on these cards by buying them from merchants and by playing and winning card games against other characters in the game. They can also win Gwent cards whenever they successfully finish a certain quest.
