With the success of Black Ops 3, which is massive by anyone’s standards, people are hoping and keeping their fingers crossed for a Black Ops 4. Because there’s already a Call of Duty 1, 2 and 3, it only makes sense to add Call of Duty 4. For most players, it doesn’t even matter what the next title would be, as long as another installment is released.
People were just clamoring for Call of Duty 4 that some avid fan even uploaded a Black Ops 4 trailer on YouTube just a few weeks after Black Ops 3 was released. The video turned out to be a spoof. But the 3 million views it received were proof that people are ready for the next part of the series.
The reality however is that Activision still needed to create DLC for Black Ops 3 to keep its momentum going. Also, the normal development cycle of a game usually runs between 8 to 9 months, which means players would have to wait that long for any signs of Black Ops 4. The game developer is also multitasking, releasing sequels for other games, such as a sequel for Ghost in 2016.
Fast forward to today, Black Ops 4 is definitely looming on the horizon. A tweet from Treyarch Studios confirmed that the most-awaited game is in the works. “We are actively investigating & working to bring back online services for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Watch this space.”
Now that the word is out, speculations are sure to rise like crazy. But people are likely to talk about past rumors and theories.
Would Treyarch still be working on Black Ops 4?
The tweet says it all. Besides, Treyarch Studios has proven time and again that they are more than capable of bringing to life the concept and strategies behind Call of Duty. They are also the most respected studios, the kind of reputation that contributes to the game’s success.
Is the next installment a game, movie or TV show?
A game would be the best answer, but with a studio developed specifically for a movie or follow on movie, it could be one or both. A game and a movie would be amazing for fans and players out there.
Would zombies make an appearance?
With the huge success of zombie-based movies and TV shows, zombies in Black Ops 4 would make the game current. As long as it would make sense to the story line, it will be all good.
Are all these going to materialize in the Black Ops 4? Let’s wait and see.
In the meantime, enjoy Infinite Warfare.
