For quite some time now, Google has not made significant changes to its keyboard app that has been available in the Google Play Store. However, it turns out that the company has plenty in store for the app, with its latest update tagged as v5.0 being so massive. Announced as already available for download, the new Google Keyboard v5.0 comes with an array of new features and much-needed improvements in the form of layouts, gestures and more.

When it comes to theme and design, the holo theme has finally been taken out, but for those who would miss it, the update includes a checkbox in the key border setting that should give each of the keys its own space. Aside from this, the new keyboard allows users to adjust its height and comes with a new one-handed mode that minimizes the keyboard to the left or right side by making a long press on the comma key.

With regards to gestures, the feature has also seen a big change. If you often use the gesture typing feature, then you will no longer have some troubles with the dynamic floating preview getting in your way. Suggestions, which are highlighted in teal green, are now designed to appear in the suggestions box. It is also easier to delete on this new keyboard through swiping. Moreover, there is a new delete gesture that allows you to delete unwanted or mistyped words and even suggestions on the fly.

Of course, the update also comes with other bug fixes and improvements, with Google rolling it out gradually. But if you cannot wait to install the APK in your device, then you can head over to Play Store and download and install it manually.

Installing APK Files Manually
