HTC has released its Desire 820 handset in November 2014 and the company is now expected to release the Desire 830 successor, with a similar design, but upgraded specs. Today we will compare these two phablets and let you decide which one suits your needs better.

Designs

The HTC Desire 820 measures 157.7×78.7×7.7mm and weights 155 grams. It isn’t known how much the HTC Desire 830 will weight, but its dimensions will be 157.5×78.9×7.8mm. Both devices have a plastic body with a dual tone design – the frame, ring around the camera and buttons have a different color than the rear panel. Also, the Desire 830 will have BoomSound stereo speakers on top and at the bottom of the display.

Displays

The HTC Desire 820 has a LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 267 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. HTC has increased the resolution on the HTC Desire 830’s display, which supports now 1920×1080 pixels at 401 ppi.

The HTC Desire 820 features a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1GHz, an Adreno 405 graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The HTC Desire 830 has a Mediatek MT6753 chipset, an octa-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-T720MP3 graphics card and 3GB of RAM.

Storages

The HTC Desire 820 has been released with an internal storage of 16GB, while the HTC Desire 830 is expected to feature an internal memory of 32GB. You will be able to expand the storage on both devices up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Cameras

The HTC Desire 820 sports a primary camera of 13MP that features touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection, LED flash, HDR and a secondary camera of 8MP. The HTC Desire 830 will come with a rear camera this the same resolution that will feature OIS, LED flash, autofocus, face detection, HDR, touch focus, geo-tagging, while the front camera will support 4MP.

Batteries

Both devices feature non-removable batteries. The Desire 820 was powered by a relatively small battery of 2600mAh, but the Desire 830 has received 200mAh extra juice.
