Apple has released its iPad Air 2 back in October 2014, while the iPad Pro 9.7 was brought in March 2016 and it’s the smaller version of the 12.9 model. There are many similarities between them, as they have the same design and identical dimensions, but if you want to discover the differences between them, we’ll tell you about them in the following article.

Designs

Both devices measure 240×169.5×6.1mm and weight 437 grams (Wi-Fi version) or 444 grams (3G/LTE version). They both have a simple aluminum chassis available in colors such as Silver, Gold and Space Gray, but the iPad Pro offers a Rose Gold variant as well.

Displays



The iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 9.7 feature a LED-backlit IPS LCD display of 9.7-inch that supports a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels at 264 ppi and it’s protected by a scratch-resistant glass.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The iPad Air 2 has an A8X chipset, a triple-core Typhoon CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, a PowerVR GXA6850 graphics card (octa-core) and 2GB of RAM. On the other hand, the iPad Pro 9.7 features an A9X chipset, a dual-core Twister CPU clocked at 2.16GHz, a PowerVR Series 7 graphics card (12-core graphics) and 2GB of RAM.

Storages

The iPad Air 2 has been released in thee internal storage of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but it doesn’t feature a card slot for storage expansion. The iPad Pro 9.7 comes in three internal storage variants of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB, which can’t be expanded, either.

Cameras

The iPad Air 2 sports a weaker primary camera of 8MP that features autofocus, touch focus, HDR, panorama, face detection, touch focus, geo-tagging and a secondary camera of 1.2MP. Both of iPad Pro 9.7’s cameras have been upgraded, so the primary one supports a resolution of 12MP and offers phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash, HDR, face detection, touch focus, geo-tagging, while the secondary camera is 5MP.

Batteries

Both devices have non-removable batteries with capacities of 7340 mAh (iPad Air 2) and 7306 mAh (iPad Pro 9.7).

Prices

The iPad Air 2 is available for $399 and the maximum price is $629, while the iPad Pro is priced between $599 and $1,029.
