Huawei has announced its P9 and P9 Plus smartphones over three weeks ago, at a special event in London, and they’re available for pre-order from major carriers from all over the world. Their prices will be around $680 (P9 with 32GB of storage) and $875 (P9 Plus) respectively, so if you’re considering buying any of these two smartphones, here are some tips and tricks that will help you take full advantage of their features.

Extend Battery Life

The P9 has a 5.2-inch screen and a 3000mAh non-removable battery, while the P9 Plus is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen and it’s powered by a 3400mAh battery. It is known that larger screens drain batteries pretty fast, and these two smartphones will last an entire day if users enable the power saving modes. Battery consumption can be also reduced by using ROG power saving, an option that will cut the screen resolution down to 720 x 1280 pixels.

Use Voice Commands

Besides motion control, the P9 has voice control, as well, and it recognizes voice commands such as “answer call” or “reject call”. Also, the device will wake up when saying a wake-up command that can be customized.

Change The Color Temperature

The P9 has a screen with a tinted-blue effect and it’s quite annoying for the eye. The good news is that the color temperature can be changed in Settings and choosing the Warm option, which will make colors more accurate.

Use The Camera’s Pro Mode

The P9 and P9 Plus have a Dual 12 MP Leica rear camera with a color sensor and a black and white sensor which are gathering much light and produce more detailed images. By using the Pro mode, users are able to set the ISO, change the white balance and the focal points and adjust the shutter speed. Another thing you can do to improve the quality of your photos is to set the aperture between f/0.95 and f/16 by tapping on the thing that you want to focus on.

Change The Interface Using Smart Assistance

By using Smart Assistance, the navigation buttons can be customized, while with the floating dock, users have access to navigation. They can also flip to mute incoming calls, alarms or timers, take a screenshot, summon an application by drawing its first letter etc.
