Minecraft is without any doubts one of the most popular games out there. It’s available for many platforms such as Windows OS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows Phone, Android, iOS, PlayStation Vita, OS X, Linux and more.
Today we’re going to talk about a new Minecraft version that has been released for the Gear VR, a virtual headset created by Samsung. According to reports, the Minecraft: Gear VR Edition comes with the similar features and options that are found in other platforms, such as: multiplayer, creative and survival mode, skins and more.
The only difference that the new Minecraft: Gear VR Edition comes with is that it allows you to view the game right in front your face, thanks to the Samsung Gear VR headset. You will also be able to select from two viewing modes: theater view and first person view.
If you don’t own a Samsung Gear VR headset yet, then you should know that it costs 99 dollars, but it works only with some “high-end” devices such as: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7 Edge or Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
At the same time, the Minecraft: Gear VR Edition game will need to be paired to a gamepad, as it will most likely be quite hard to build structures without it. According to Oculus, one of the controllers that you could purchase for 59.99 dollars from Amazon is the SteelSeries Stratus XL.
Mojang has confirmed that the Minecraft: Oculus Rift Edition is currently under development and that the Minecraft: Gear VR Edition is just the start of the game into the virtual reality. The Minecraft: Gear VR Edition can be purchased from the Oculus Store for only 6.99 dollars.
As for the Samsung Gear VR, the headset uses a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560x1440pixels, it supports a 96-degree field of view, it weights 318 grams, it has a touchpad and back button and it relies on the smartphone’s processor.
