Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Green have been a real success as, according to Nintendo, they have been downloaded over 1.5million times worldwide.
During the annual fiscal presentation, Tatsumi Kimishima, the president of Nintendo, has detailed how the Virtual Console re-release have been doing since their release back in February 2016.
The mentioned games have been ported to the 3DS Virtual Console on February 27, 2016, 20 years after they’ve been firstly released. Kimishima added that even if this number is reflected as worldwide sales, it is good to know more than a half of downloads have been done from North America.
It is good to know that only three of the four re-released titles have made it to the eShop: Yellow, Blue and Red. At the same time, a limited bundle edition of the Nintendo 3DS has been released and it contains codes for the Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games.
Nintendo said that two months later after the re-release of these four titles they can say that they’ve been a major success, as they are, currently, the top-ranked downloaded titles chart for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. The four Pokémon take the 4th place in the top five most downloaded games chart.
Nintendo has boosted its sales with the re-release of a new DLC for Fire Emblem Fates and Super Smash Bros., along with the release of the old-school Pokémon on 3DS. It seems that even if these games are quite old, there are still gamers who are still interested in checking up on them.
We remind you that Nintendo is also preparing to release the Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun by the end of this year. These two games are developed by Game Freak, which is a developer that has released many Pokémon games in the past, such as Pokémon X and Y.
