In the last period, developers of WhatsApp have been extremely busy releasing new beta updates with new features or bug fixes. But, every once in a while, after they make sure that all problems are solved and users are happy with the additions, they come up with a stable version. The latest stable version for Android is 2.16.42 and can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

The WhatsApp 2.16.42 has the build number 451112, it weighs 23.74 MB and comes with all new features that have been introduced in the previous beta updates. To name a few: end-to-end encryption, text formatting (bold, italic, strikethrough), revamped in-app camera interface, Word, Excel & PowerPoint document sharing and others. However, all beta updates come with bugs and some of them are causing the application to crash, but the stable version of WhatsApp is bug-free.

If you can’t find the latest stable update on the Google Play store, you can download it from the internet, but make sure you’ll get it from a trusted website, such as APK Mirror, because, otherwise, you’ll infect your device with malware. But, in order to install software from third party sources, you’ll need to enable the Unknown Sources option, by going to your phone’s Settings.

It isn’t known if the rumored Voice Calling feature will be added soon, because lately, we haven’t heard about it and the developers doesn’t say a word when they will add it to WhatsApp. Anyway, the new beta version of this application for Android is 2.16.43 and you can find it on the Google Play store, via the official beta channel, but you must become a tester. The latest beta update weighs 27.71 MB and comes only with bug fixes and performance improvements. In the next months, the developers will release new features for the 1 billion active users.
