Facebook has created a “Lite” version for the Messenger app, which can be installed on devices with weaker specs – low internal memory and less RAM. Facebook Lite doesn’t require so much memory to run smoothly, but that’s because it doesn’t offer data-intensive features, for example videos. This application can be downloaded from the Google Play store and its latest version is

Facebook Lite is a great alternative for those with limited Internet connections (2G) and low-end mobile devices, as it takes up around 250 Kb once installed, which is a hundred times less space than Facebook Messenger. It has most of the features of Facebook Messenger and it consumes less data, which is very convenient for those with a limited data plan. But, if they don’t mind seeing lower-resolution image thumbnails, then Facebook Lite is the perfect solution.

Facebook Litev weighs only 910.78 KB and it comes with build number 28566712, it’s very fast to install, quick to load and has features such as: group conversations, the ability to post updates and photos and to be notified when friends comment on your posts etc.

The latest update comes only with improvements for reliability and speed. Facebook is rarely bringing new features for this application, focusing in general on the original Facebook Messenger, which is now at version (beta) and can be downloaded from the internet, from trusted websites such as APK Mirror. A few days ago, this application received a new feature called group call and this service handles up to 50 people. Facebook hasn’t mentioned anything about expanding this feature and to provide a video service as well.

If you’ll download Facebook Lite or Messenger from the internet, make sure that the Unknown Sources option is enabled. Head to your device’s Settings and check the box in front of Unknown Sources.
