Mojang has just released “Crown and Council” on Steam and it’s completely free to download and play. This game has been created entirely by Henrik Pettersson, artist at Mojang, and it can be played on any device with at least 1GB of RAM and 300MB of available storage space.
“Crown and Council” isn’t a unique game, as it’s very similar to “Risk or Civilization”, but it’s very pretty, even if it has a 16-bit pixel style and MIDI sound effects that remind us of the days when Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis were very popular. “Crown and Council” is, actually, a challenging strategy game in which players will build, expand and develop kingdoms, but at the same time, they must defend them or conquer other players’ kingdoms.
Players will use gold to expand their kingdoms, to build forts or universities, or forward naval attacks. When Majong has announced “Crown and Council”, it said that the game is “simple to play, but not quite so easy to win: do you spend all your cash on universities, hoping to survive long enough that your book-learnin’ makes you unstoppable in the late game? Or do yo go for a quick land-grab, hoping to put enough boots on the ground to give you an irreversible early advantage?”
“Crown and Council” includes 75 maps and has a map generator built into the game for players who want to create their own maps, in order to not get bored of the standard ones. “Other features include fabulously mustachioed pixel-art tyrants, procedural land generation and procedural insults from your regal rivals“, has added Mojang.
“Crown and Council” might seem an old-school like gameplay, but it’s very captivating and the good news is that it’s totally free and available on Steam. TeamMojang has posted a Launch Trailer of this new game on YouTube and you can watch it below:
