First, there was the issue of whether or not hackers can jailbreak iOS 9.2 and 9.2.1. Now, it seems that the answer would remain as evasive as the availability of the jailbreak tool. As of this writing, there is only an indication that a tool to jailbreak iOS 9.2.1 is on the way. The rest are rumors and predictions.

Until the iOS 9.2 jailbreak becomes available, the waiting game will continue. Just when you think, you have the option to circumvent the settings of your Apple device, it turns out to be nothing more than false information.

Worse, if you have already upgraded to iOS 9.3.1, you can no longer download to iOS 9.3 or 9.1, since Apple has stopped singing the firmware files.

Well, if jailbreak iOS 9.2 is not yet available, you can always upgrade to iOS 9.3 where you can do some cool stuff without the need to jailbreak it.

Yes, here’s good news for Game Boy Advance players, you can install an emulator without the need to jailbreak iOS 9.3 and 9.3.2. Although Apple prohibits developers to push apps that emulate game consoles, there are ways to beat the system, so to speak.

To install GBA4iOS Game Boy Advance emulator to your Apple devices running iOS 9.3.1, iOS 9.3, and iOS 9.3.2 beta, start by downloading the app from an online source. Initially, you will be told that you are unable to download the app. Just follow the tricks below to bypass the problem.

  • Go to Settings > Date & Time
  • Disable Set Automatically > Reset the date
  • Set it far back from 2016, such as 2012 or 2014
  • Click on the emulator icon again to install it
  • Click Cancel at the prompt about Untrusted Enterprise Developer
  • Go back to Settings > Date & Time > Click Set Automatically
  • Go back to Settings > Device Management > Verify game certificate

You can’t verify unless you set the date back to the current date. When playing the game, however, you would have to re-set the date to the past up to 2012. Then, switch it back when using other apps. It’s a bit of an inconvenience, but the trade-off is that you can play Game Boy Advance on your iPad and iPhone.

It is unfortunate that the wait for iOS 9.2.1 Jailbreak continues, but you can always choose to make the most of your device with whatever tweaks are available. Just remember though, you can’t downgrade to an earlier version if you upgrade to iOS 9.3.

So weigh your options – iOS 9.2 or Game Boy Advance on iOS 9.3?
