Recently the Rockstar company (responsible for the GTA franchise) has been shook by the departure of Leslie Benzies, the former president of Rockstar North but this event in itself offers important hints towards what the GTA 6 will really look like.
Leslie Benzies left Rockstar after a lawsuit filed in January against the GTA developer, claiming that the company owed him 150 million dollar in royalties for the franchise. Just so you could get a clearer image of how exact this amount is, the owners grossed out around 500 million dollars in microtransactions just from the Grand Theft Auto V – GTA Online, as opposed to 1.5 million dollars in microtransactions for Halo 5. This is how profitable the GTA franchise really is!
On the other end, Rockstar said that Benzies was on sabbatical and simply didn’t return to work.
As a result of these developments, it’s very possible that the plans for GTA 6 that were in effect until now to change accordingly. A new president is equal to a new vision for GTA altogether, right?
Until now, the new locations that have been rumored to be featured in GTA 6 were London, the US, Las Vegas and Columbia, Bogota. Apart from these rumors about settings, there were also some hints to a female lead that would be voiced by actress Eva Mendes, which fans welcome but is not considered the best decision for a game like GTA. Alongside Eva, a new male character may be introduced that will supposedly be voiced by another Hollywood actor, Ryan Gosling.
The release date for the sixth GTA installment is supposedly set to coincide with that of Xbox 2 and Play Station 5, but it may very well coincide with Play Station 4 according to other reports. We’ll just have to wait and see how this will turn out!
