Famous Twitter leaker Evan Blass has posted an image of the bottom edge of a phone with a square home button which seems to be a fingerprint button. It’s the image of the alleged Moto G4 Plus and one of Blass’ followers has confirmed the name, saying that the phone is currently tested at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.
Lenovo is the new owner of Motorola and has already confirmed that the upcoming Moto devices will come with a fingerprint scanner. While the Moto X line consists of flagships, the Moto G handsets have mid-range specs and mid-tier sizes. Apparently, in 2016, the manufacturer will bring a phablet version for the fourth generation Moto G, which will be named “Plus”.
According to rumors, the Moto G 2016 will have a 5.5-inch display, an internal memory of 16GB, a rear camera of 13MP and will cost 240 Euros in Europe. The Plus variant will have the same screen size and storage, but its rear camera will support a higher resolution of 16MP and will have a similar price tag. Motorola hasn’t commented on these rumors, so we suggest you to take them with a bit of salt.
The Moto G 2015 was unveiled in July, so it’s a bit early to talk abut the specs of its successor, but we’re pretty sure that more leaks will come in the near future. As for the specs of the Moto G 2015, we remind you that it measures 142.1 x 72.4 x 11.6 mm, it weights 155 grams and has a plastic body with diagonal lines across its rear panel, alongside a vertical strip in the middle, which houses the camera and logo.
The device is water resistant, it has a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at 294 ppi, it’s powered by a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor backed by an Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM/8GB of storage or 2GB of RAM/16GB of storage, but both variants have a card slot for expansion up to 32GB. The primary camera has a resolution of 13Mp, an aperture of f/2.0 and features such as autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and auto-HDR, while the front camera is 5MP and has f/2.2 optics. The battery is non-removable and has a capacity of 2470 mAh.
