Announcements of announcements aren’t anyone’s favorite thing, but in the case of The Sims 4, it might be justified. After a Sims player seemingly confirmed that pets and toddlers would not be added to the game after asking the game’s Latin American Facebook page, fans flew into an uproar that these much-desired features would never exist. Following that, one of the official SimGurus stepped in to clarify matters.
SimGuruDrake said on the Sims 4 forums that “the only official SimGurus are those based in North America who are also members of the development / production / community team here at EARS” and “official statements regarding content for The Sims 4 will come directly from our offices here at EARS first.”
In other words, information received from a Sims 4 page or account, even an official one, may not be accurate and shouldn’t be taken as an official announcement. This doesn’t directly say the Facebook page’s statement was false, but maybe it’s not too late to hope for those additions to the game. It may be an announcement of an announcement, but now fans can stop worrying over the erroneous statement about pets and toddlers.
He went on to say that they’ll provide “a look at content to come to The Sims 4 in the next couple months” on April 19.
This is no guarantee pets, toddlers, or anything else fans have speculated about will be announced, but at least fans know new content for The Sims 4 is coming in the new future and will be announced soon. Many players feel it might be a cooking expansion, due to food-related comments made by the Sims Twitter account, but there’s no cause to jump to conclusions–especially so soon after being told not to take such information as fact.
The wording of his comment also suggests they might announce more than one expansion on April 19, since content planned for “the next couple months” sounds as though it won’t be a one-time release. Multiple packs announced at once isn’t typical for The Sims 4, but it has happened in the past.
April 19 is less than a week away, so soon we’ll know what’s in store for The Sims 4 in the months ahead. What new content do you think is most likely? What content do you most wish would be announced? Let us know in the comments!
