The latest stable version of WhatsApp for Android devices is 2.16.13 and it was just released a few days ago, which comes with optimizations for the new end-to-end encryption feature, along with bug fixes and stability improvements.
Unfortunately, some features that are found on the latest BETA version of the application are missing. We’ve expected the developers to release a new stable version of WhatsApp which will include the bold, strikeout and italic fonts in messages, a new interface for capturing videos and photos, new wallpapers and other small details that are currently found on the latest BETA version of the application.
However, they’ve added end-to-end encryption to the application, which in our opinion is one of the best features that they could bring to this application. The end-to-end encryption will make sure that nobody will be able to see the message you send (aside from you and the receiver). Unfortunately, this feature might not be welcomed to India and other countries, where governments don’t allow this type of encryption.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any official information yet about the rumored Video Calling feature, which is expected to be released for WhatsApp sometime in the near future. Even if the developers of WhatsApp refuse to talk about this feature, we think that they are already working on it and it is just a matter of time until we will see it on this popular application.
