The Samsung Galaxy S7 has been released in March 2016, while the Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to arrive this month. Today we’re going to compare these two high-end smartphones and let you decide which one suits your needs better.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 measures 142.4×69.6×7.9mm and weight 152 grams. It has a premium design which is inherited from the Galaxy S6, meaning that its back is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, and its sides are covered by a metal frame. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is slimmer and lighter as it measures 144.6×69.2×7.3mm and weights 139 grams. This new model has a 3D glass curve design, but it’s more rounded than the Mi Note.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a super AMOLED display of 5.1-inch that supports a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 577 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has a slightly bigger IPS LCD display of 5.15-inch that supports a lower resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 428 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Samsung has released its Galaxy S7 in two variants, as follows:

– Processor: dual-core Kryo clocked at 2.15 + dual-core Kryo clocked at 1.6GHz or quad-core Mongoose clocked at 2.3GHz + Cortex A53 clocked at 1.6GHz;
– Graphics Card: Adreno 530 or Mali-T880 MP12;
– 4GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, a dual-core Kryo clocked at 1.8GHz + a dual-core Kryo clocked at 1.36GHz (pro version) or a dual-core Kryo clocked at 2.15GHz + a dual-core Kryo clocked at 1.6GHz, an Adreno 530 graphics card and 3GB or 4GB of RAM (pro edition).
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has been released in two internal storage variants of 32GB and 64GB, which you can expand up to 200GB using a microSD card. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 5 doesn’t offer a card slot for storage expansion, but it comes in three internal storage variants of 128GB (pro edition), 64GB and 32GB.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a primary camera of 12MP that features OIS, LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, face detection, auto-HDR, panorama and a secondary camera of 5MP. The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a primary camera of 16MP that supports dual-LED flash, autofocus, OIS, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, geo-tagging and a secondary camera of 4MP.
