Like many LG smartphone owners, you most likely are checking the news every day to find out if the Android 6.0 update — better known as Marshmallow — will reach you soon. Well, the rollout for this update has obviously been slow, but there are some good news that might make the wait less tiring for you and other LG phone owners.
The LG G2 has not been included in the list of LG phones that would receive the Marshmallow update. This isn’t really surprising since the G2 is already several years old and may not have the hardware to support the recent Android update. But, according to recent reports, there’s a chance that the G2 may get its update after all! MotoringCrunch.com, for instance, reveals that a Verizon LG G2 that was running on Android Marshmallow was spotted being benchmarked. This proves that the phone has the capability to support the modern features of the latest Android update although, as MotoringCrunch.com pointed out, it doesn’t necessarily mean that an LG G2 Marshmallow update is on the way.
Unlike the LG G2, the G3 is fully assured that it will receive the Android 6.0. In fact, the update is already being rolled out in North America. In Canada, for example, telecommunication companies Bell, Telus, Rogers, SaskTel, Fido, Koodo, Virgin Mobile, and others simultaneously released the LG G3 Marshmallow update in late March.
Telecoms in the United States are also expected to roll out their Marshmallow update for the LG G3, although it’s not clear exactly when they would do so. T-Mobile has revealed that their update is still in the testing stage, while other companies have not given any details about their LG G3 Marshmallow updates. Only Verizon has been able to roll out the Android 6.0 update to the LG G3 and G4 (which took place early in March); they have already even released security updates for the two phones.
LG V10 owners in the U.S. are lucky since several telecommunication companies have already committed to releasing the Marshmallow updates for their phones. Verizon has already started rolling out updates for the V10 over the air, while other telecoms are expected to follow suit. T-Mobile, for example, has announced that their V10 Marshmallow updates are already in the testing stage. AT&T has not given details about how their updates are going along, although tech experts are expecting them to start rolling out Marshmallow for LG V10 this quarter.
