UC Browser was created by a Chinese company called UCWeb, being originally released in April 2004, as a J2ME-only application. Now, this web browser is supported on platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Symbian, Java ME, and BlackBerry. In October 2015, according to StatCounter, UC browser became the second most used mobile web browser, passing Apple’s Safari. The latest stable version of UC Browser for Android is and can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

UC Browser can be installed on Android devices running on version 2.3 and above and it’s available in six languages. The latest version brings four important changes: the possibility to add or remove add-ons; Quick Reads has a new design, supporting offline reading; next page will be pre-loaded with intelligent analysis so that users will save time; downloads will be kept active even after closing the browser.

Version 10.8.8 (build 214) of UC Browser received a smarter design, a tweaked homepage and two exclusive features for India: Cricket Express, which offers cricket scores by tapping the floating widget from the screen and Synchronized Lyrics, which displays lyrics for the songs played using UC Music.

The rest of features include: a Fast mode (by compressing data, navigation speeds up and MBs of your internet package are saved); ADBlock (it blocks out annoying Ads); Facebook mode (it speeds up Facebook); Night mode (for reading more comfortably at night); Online videos – movies and TV shows (classified in different categories) in Speed mode; which can be controlled with gestures (their volume, brightness, progress) and Smart Downloading (UCWeb’s servers are speeding up and stabilizing downloads and when connections drop, files continue to be downloaded from the breakpoint).

UC Browser is used by 300 million people who have an Android device, but the total number of active users is 500 million.
