Huawei has just announced its upcoming P9 and P9 Plus smartphones, which promise to make you fall in love with their shooting capabilities. Today we’re going to compare their features and you’ll see what differences are between them.


The Huawei P9 measures 145×70.9x7mm and weights 144 grams. The Huawei P9 Plus is a phablet measuring 152.3×75.3x7mm and weighting 162 grams. They have an identical design, featuring a full metal body and a glass strip at the top, where you’ll find two rear cameras. Below them, in the middle, you’ll see the circular fingerprint sensor. On the front side, the bezel measures only 1.7mm, so it’s extremely slim.


The Huawei P9 comes with an IPS NEO LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 423 ppi. The Huawei P9 Plus has a larger Super AMOLED display of 5.5-inch that supports the same resolution, but which gives a pixel density of 401 ppi. Both screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

Both devices are housing a HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset with an octa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A72 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics card. When it comes to RAM, the Huawei P9 comes in two variants of 3GB and 4GB, while the Huawei P9 Plus has been released with 4GB of RAM.


The Huawei P9 comes in two variants of 32GB (3GB of RAM variant) and 64GB (4GB of RAM variant), while the Huawei P9 Plus has only 64GB of internal storage. Both devices feature a card slot that supports microSD cards with a capacity up to 128GB.


Both handsets sport a dual-primary camera of 12MP (located on the rear side) that features Leica optics with an aperture of f/2.2, dual-LED flash, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR, phase detection autofocus and a secondary camera of 8MP (found on the front side of the smartphones).


The Huawei P9 has a non-removable battery of 3000 mAh, while the Huawei P9 Plus comes with a more powerful non-removable battery of 3400 mAh.

As you can see, these two devices come with almost identical specifications and the only difference is the display size and the additional variant of 3GB of RAM offered by the Huawei P9.
