After the recent rumors sparked by an apparent survey about the Sims 4 (although not all Sims 4 players received the survey, and many disagree on whether the survey reports were legitimate or faked), Sims 4 players have been filled with home that the game might finally receive a pets expansion.
A pets expansion for The Sims 4 is only one of the many features players have been asking about. When the game first launched, many longtime fans of the series were frustrated over the removal of features present in previous games. Among the most notable were toddlers and swimming pools.
Swimming pools were eventually added, but toddlers were not. This, along with other interactivity not present in the game, left many players still frustrated with their Sims’ family lives, and some still wait for the day these features will be added to the game. As it stands, The Sims 4 has a limited amount of family activities available.
Seasons are another feature fans keep hoping for. Although previous Sims games had different seasons and weather that changed according to the time of year, The Sims 4 does not. Of course, due to the amount of things seasons affect in the environment, it is one of the more difficult additions to implement.
The Sims 4 has become very controversial among players. Some people dislike it for not having these features, and won’t be satisfied until they are added. Others claim that if it had everything that was in The Sims 3, it wouldn’t have its own identity, and therefore the changes are what make it distinctly The Sims 4.
Nevertheless, a large portion of the fanbase feels the changes made from The Sims 3 to The Sims 4 took the series too far back, and the improvements it made aren’t enough to pull it ahead.
The Sims 4 is still supported with expansion packs, so it’s possibly the developers have heard the outcry and will eventually add features like toddlers, seasons, and pets. Maybe the recent survey was legitimate, and a full-fledged pets expansion is on its way to The Sims 4. Only time will tell.
