There are many mobile messaging applications out there, but there are just a few of them which are worth to be mentioned. Today we’re going to talk about WhatsApp and Viber application, which, according to reports, are two of the most used mobile applications out there.

User Interface

The WhatsApp and Viber applications come with a nice user-interface, which anyone can get used to after just a few minutes. We agree that Viber comes with a more sophisticated user-interface along with more features, but WhatsApp is surely wining this section as it is slightly simpler to use when compared to Viber.

Call Quality

WhatsApp is quite new to the Voice Calling feature and according to reports, the quality will depend on the bandwidth that the device is connected to. For example, the quality is acceptable on 2G networks, but you will notice some echoes or lags from time to time. However, when your device will be connected to a 3G or Wi-Fi connection, you will notice a significant improvement.

Viber had the Voice Calling feature for quite a while and we all have to agree that this feature is way better on this application. In addition, the Voice Calling on Viber doesn’t consume as much traffic as the same feature is wasting on the WhatsApp application.

WhatsApp and Viber are two free applications, which are using the internet connection to send and receive data. You can send messages, make voice calls, share photos for free, but this function works only “internally” (WhatsApp user to WhatsApp user or Viber user to Viber user).

However, WhatsApp doesn’t have its own desktop client yet, but you can connect on your WhatsApp account from your computer via the web browser. However, in order to make it work, you will need to keep your mobile device connected to the internet and the WhatsApp application has to be open on the smartphone.

Viber has a full desktop application, which means that you will be able to switch from the desktop to the mobile version (or vice-versa) whenever you want.
