The new WhatsApp update doesn’t bring any new features, containing only bug fixes for Google Drive backup, which weren’t solved in the previous 2.16.5 update. Of course, the changes that have been made to the Inbuilt Camera UI are available in WhatsApp 2.16.7, as well as other recently added features, but more about them we’ll tell you below.
WhatsApp 2.16.7 weighs 27.6 MB and it received all the new features that have been added to previous versions, such as the ability to send and receive documents or to share pictures and documents from OneDrive or Dropbox cloud applications. In addition, now you can pinch-to-zoom in video, in order to view small details better and you’ll also like the changes that have been made to the built-in camera UI, which really needed an overhaul because it was looking old.
Therefore, the shutter button is no longer blue, but white and you’ll find new icons for flash and switch camera options. All images you’ve clicked on or saved from other applications will appear in the camera roll, so you can easily share them to your WhatsApp contacts. If you don’t know how to record videos, there’s a white shutter button which will turn red when holding it. When releasing the button, the video recording stops.
After capturing a video or taking a photo, you will be sent to the next screen and from there you’ll have the option to share the file. You will notice that the screen was tweaked as well, as the developers have ditched the round white and grey send and cancel icons and instead you’ll find a green floating button on which you’ll tap to send media files. The caption box will be located at the bottom of the screen and the cancel button has the form of a back arrow and it’s placed at the top.
The WhatsApp 2.16.7 can be downloaded from the Google Play store, if you’re enrolled in the Beta Testing program. This way, you don’t have to enable the Unknown Sources option when installing a new WhatsApp update.
