The Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system was released four months ago, but Samsung has been very slow in delivering this update to its flagships. The moment has finally arrived and the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are being upgraded worldwide, but they’re getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, which comes with many enhancements, and at this moment, it’s rolling out to the Verizon subscribers.
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is being pushed to Samsung’s Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in Korea and the first two models are also being upgraded in other parts of the world, in countries such as Afghanistan, Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Germany, India, Iraq, Italy, Macedonia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Spain the Netherlands, Russia, the United Kingdom etc. Now, the users from North America are enjoying the latest update. Sprint is rolling out Marshmallow for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and the installation file has over 1GB in size, while Verizon is upgrading the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but it seems that the model with a simple flat screen has received the April security patch, as well, before being announced by Google. Soon, Big Red will follow in the USA.
In Canada, Telus will release the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to its Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on April 4, then the Galaxy S6 Edge will be upgraded ten days later, and finally, the Galaxy S6 will be upgraded on April 18th. Bell hasn’t given an exact date when the update will be rolled out, because the carrier is now facing some issues.
T-Mobile has confirmed that it will upgrade the Galaxy trio, although currently, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is in the “Manufacturer Development” phase for the S6 Edge Plus. AT&T hasn’t decided when to release the update and we’re still waiting for other carriers from Australia (Vodafone, Optus and Telstra) and Canada (Rogers) to give us some release date details.
