Today were going to compare two devices that have been released back in 2014: the Xperia Z3, which is planned to be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the budget-friendly Microsoft Lumia 535, which was approved for the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview.
The Sony Xperia Z3 measures 146x72x7.3mm and weights 152 grams. Sony has used its popular Omnibalance design, so the phone has glass on both its front and rear panel, while the frame was made of metal and the corners are rounded and protected by nylon pieces. Also, the phone benefits from IP68 certification, meaning that it’s resistant to dust and water. On the other hand, the Microsof Lumia 535 is thicker and lighter, as it measures 140.2×72.4×8.8mm and weights 146 grams, and it has a removable shell made of glossy plastic, which is curved on the edges.
The Sony Xperia Z3 has an IPS LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 424 ppi and it’s protected by a scratch-resistant glass. The Microsoft Lumia 535 comes with a smaller IPS LCD display of 5-inch that supports a lower resolution of 960×540 ixels at 220 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Sony Xperia Z3 features a superior Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset which houses a quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, an Adreno 330 graphics card and 3GB of RAM. The Microsoft Lumia 535 has only a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset with a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 302 graphics card and 1GB of RAM.
The Sony Xperia Z3 has been released with in two internal storage variants of 16GB and 32GB, while the Microsoft Lumia 535 comes with only 8GB of internal memory. However, both devices allow memory expansion up to 128GB, by adding a microSD card.
The Sony Xperia Z3 sports a primary camera of 20.7MP that features LED flash, autofocus, HDR, panorama, touch focus, face detection and a secondary camera of 2.2MP. The Microsoft Lumia 535 has a primary camera of only 5MP that features autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection and a secondary camera of 5MP.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is powered by a non-removable battery of 3100 mAh, while the Microsoft Lumia 535 has a less powerful cell with a capacity of only 1905 mAh, but the good news is that it can be removed.
