HTC’s new flagship will most likely be called HTC 10, but the Taiwanese manufacturer hasn’t confirmed these rumors yet. However, we’ll see if this is the flagship that HTC has promised to unveil on April 12, as, yesterday, the company has made the announcement through an email. The leaksters suggest that HTC will finally release the successor of the One M9, but they believe that the “One” moniker will be dropped.
The next high-end smartphone created by HTC wasn’t revealed at the Mobile World Congress, which took place in February, but the company has teased the fans with a silhouette of a device on a black background, which had the #Powerof10 hashtag under it. Shortly after that, Steve Hemmerstoffer, a popular serial leaker, has published some interesting specifications of the upcoming flagship. So, the HTC One M10 / HTC 10 will have a 5.15-inch QHD display, will be powered by the latest quad core Snapdragon 820 processor which will be backed by 4GB of RAM, will have a 12-megapixel camera on the back and will support a USB Type-C connector.
Without a doubt, the reason for the delay of HTC 10’s release is related to the poor sales that the company had last year. The fatal mistake was the lack of imagination and the fact that the One M9 looked identical to its predecessor, featuring the same aluminum unibody with two lines on the back, hiding the radio antennas, while the screen didn’t receive any upgrades, keeping its diagonal of 5-inch and Full HD resolution, while, in parallel, other rival flagships were adopting the QHD resolution, which allowed the increase of the pixel density, making screens a lot crispier.
If the rumors will prove to be right, then HTC 10’s screen will be slightly bigger and will be an AMOLED built by Samsung. The phone will have an internal memory of 32GB, but the users will expand its capacity up to 200GB. While we don’t have any information about the front camera, GSMArena claims that it will support optical image stabilization.
