The Sony Xperia Z5 and HTC One M9 handsets have been released last year and both of them come with some pretty impressive specifications. Today we’re going to compare these two handsets and let you decide which one you would purchase.

The Xperia Z5 measures 146x72x7.3mm and weights 154 grams. Likewise the previous Z models, it has a glass back, but Sony has opted for a frosted material and the edges are a little bit more rounded. As usual, the interior is protected against water and dust, thanks to the IP68 certification. This feature is missing from the HTC One M9, which has an aluminum body that looks identical to that of the One M8 (with antenna lines at the top and bottom of the back). Compared to the Xperia Z5, this phone is thicker and heavier, as it measures 144.6×69.7×9.6mm and weights 154 grams.

The Sony Xperia Z5 has an IPS LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 428 ppi and is protected by a scratch-resistant glass. The HTC One M9 has a smaller super LCD3 display of 5-inch that supports a resolution with the same resolution, but it gives a higher pixel density of 441 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

Both devices feature a Snapdragon 810 chipset with an octa-core processor formed from a Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and a quad-core Cortex A57 processor clocked at 2GHz, an Adreno 430 graphics card and 3GB of RAM.

Both handsets have been released with an internal storage of 32GB, but you have the possibility to expand the capacity up to 200GB using a microSD card.

The Sony Xperia Z5 sports a primary camera of 23MP that features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 5.1MP. On the other hand, the HTC One M9 has a weaker primary camera of 20MP with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and a secondary camera of only 4MP.

Both devices have non-removable batteries, but the 2900 mAh one found on the Sony Xperia Z5 device is slightly more powerful than the 2840 mAh battery of the HTC One M9.
