WhatsApp is evolving in at a fast pace and it seems that now the developers have released a new version of this great application for the Android devices. The new WhatsApp 2.12.535 version for Android devices brings italic and bold text in your chat messages.

With other words, now you can now use bold or italic fonts when writing text messages that you send via WhatsApp application. In order to make text bold, you will need to put “*” between the text (example: *your bolded text here*), while for italic, you will need to use “_” (example: _your italic text here_). However, keep in mind that if the receiver doesn’t have the WhatsApp version 2.12.535 (or later) version installed, he/she will not see the bold or italic text.

In addition, the new WhatsApp 2.12.535 version allows you to browse your Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive accounts and send docs, sheets and PDF files from there. However the Docs and Sheets from Google Drive will be automatically converted to PDF before being sent to WhatsApp, which means that the document sharing feature is still limited on this application.

The WhatsApp 2.12.535 also comes with an improvement to the way the local backups are handled. Before, whenever a scheduled backup started, you’ve got a pop-up that blocked the application. With other words, you had to wait until the backup was over without a progress bar, time remaining or percentage, which was quite annoying. Well, from now on, the pop-up will still block everything, but it will also display a progress percentage, so that you will have an idea of how long you will need to wait until you will be able to use the application.

How To Install WhatsApp 2.12.535 On Your Android Device

The WhatsApp 2.12.535 BETA can now be installed directly from the Google Play Store if you join the WhatsApp BETA testing program. However, you can also manually install it on your Android device.

To do this, you will need to download the WhatsApp 2.12.535 APK file from, enable the “Unknown Sources” option from your device’s Settings->Applications or Settings->Security and finally head to the location where you’ve saved the APK file and tap on it to start installing the latest WhatsApp BETA version on your Android device.
