Windows 10 was released nine months ago, for computers and laptops, then the mobile version was introduced on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL handsets, in November 2015, and Microsoft promised that the update will be rolled out soon to selected Lumia devices. Due to various reasons, the company had to delay the Windows 10 Mobile release and finally, these days, the latest Lumia flagships will start receiving the firmware.
Microsoft has given the list of first Lumia devices that have approved to get the Windows 10 update, and they are the Lumia 435, 535, 635 (1 GB RAM), 640, 640 XL, 735, 830, and 930, as well as the Lumia 540 and 1520 mid-rangers. Later, other older models will be upgraded as well, but the users won’t receive it over the air, by checking the settings app. The only way to install Windows 10 Mobile is using the UpdateAdvisor tool, which is similar to the Windows 10 GWX app, and it allows the device to get the latest software.
Microsoft has made an announcement on its official website, saying that “There are a lot of great new features in Windows 10 Mobile, like Continuum, Windows Hello and Cortana. Consistent with our approach to the Windows 10 PC upgrade, we are focused on delivering a high quality experience for our customers. The Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app can be downloaded from the Windows Store to see if the upgrade is available for your device.”
Windows 10 Mobile will have a refreshed design, as Microsoft has made changes to the virtual keyboard, in order to offer the owners of Lumia phablets a better experience. Other features that will be noticed in Windows 10 Mobile are: the new notification center, quick action settings, Cortana with voice controls, a universal Photos app, Auto Enhancement mode which will be activated by default, while Albums will collect your photos and organize your music.
