The Nexus 5X and HTC One M8 are two devices that have been released in 2015 and 2014, respectively. The first one was built by LG, one of Google’s favorite OEMs, who returned after 2 years and created a budget-friendly masterpiece. The other phone is a small upgrade from One M7, featuring a similar design, but a different processor and cameras. Here’s a comparison between the Nexus 5X and One M8.

The Nexus 5X measures 147×72.6×7.9mm and weights 136 grams. Its design isn’t spectacular, but it’s not ugly either. LG used plastic again, but changed the same of the phone, ditching the floating arc in favor of rectangular. The rear camera is circular and slightly protruding and has a fingerprint scanner bellow it. The HTC One M8 is thicker and heavier as it measures 146.4×70.6×9.4mm and weights 160 grams. Likewise its predecessor, it features a full aluminum body, it’s curved on the sides and has two horizontal lines on the back: at the top and at the bottom.

The Nexus 5X has an IPS LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 423 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The HTC One M8 has a smaller super LCD3 display of 5-inch with the same resolution, but it offers a higher pixel density of 441 ppi and it benefits from the same type of screen protection.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Nexus 5X features a 64bit Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset with a hexa-core processor formed from a dual-core Cortex A57 processor clocked at 1.82GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.44GHz, an Adreno 418 graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The HTC one M8 comes with a 32bit Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 chipset that houses a quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, an Adreno 330 graphics card and 2GB of RAM.

The Nexus 5X and HTC One M8 has been released in two internal storage variants of 16GB and 32GB. Unfortunately, the Nexus 5X doesn’t offer a card slot for storage expansion, while the One M8 allows you to add a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 128GB.

The Nexus 5X sports a primary camera of 12.3MP (found on the rear side of the handset) with features such as laser autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, panorama, face detection, and a secondary camera of 5MP (found on the front side of the smartphone). The HTC One M8 has a dual 4MP Ultrapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 5MP.

Both devices come with non-removable batteries, but the Nexus 5X has a slight more powerful one with a capacity of 2700 mAh which should outperform the 2600 mAh battery of the HTC One M8.
