Bethesda has confirmed that they will be attending E3 2016 and will also be giving a briefing which is currently due to take place on June 12th. The announcement was made on Twitter and included an image of various Bethesda projects including Dishonored, Fallout, The Evil Within and also, The Elder Scrolls.
No other information has been released with the E3 announcement which has left fans scrambling to guess the meaning behind the image and also what Bethesda has in store this year. After the briefing at E3 in 2015, Bethesda commented that they would not return every year and would only confirm an appearance if they had something big to reveal.
Following this, they have also announced that they are starting to work on new projects and as a result of this, they are hiring new staff for those projects.
It’s extremely unlikely that this would be for a Fallout 4 game expansion, the first DLC for Fallout 4 is expected in the next few months. Doom is also going to be released in May which limits what Bethesda’s conference could include. Elder Scrolls 6 or “Skyrim 2” is the main reveal that fans are hoping for, even if it’s just the confirmation they’ve begun working on the game.
There has been no information released about Elder Scrolls 6 from Bethesda however they have mentioned the game before in interviews and confirmed that they have ideas for this game. The last game in the series was The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which was released in 2011 and following the previous release scheduled for the series, there should be a new game in 2017. However, as Bethesda has not yet confirmed the existence of the game fans are uncertain about this time period for a potential release now.
2016 will be Bethesda’s second appearance at E3 and fans are expecting a big reveal from the conference this year. Last year, Bethesda revealed Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls fans are hoping that this year will include the reveal of The Elder Scrolls 6. It’s expected that Dishonored 2 will be mentioned once again along with DLC for Fallout 4 and Doom; there is also some hope that there will be a second The Evil Within game.
