Leakers Evan Blass and OnLeaks have posted on their Twitter accounts that HTC will drop the One M branding and the next flagships will be called, simply, HTC 10. The Taiwanese manufacturer hasn’t mentioned anything about the name of this flagship but it released a teaser image of the device with the hashtag “#Powerof10.”
This hashtag is clearly a hint that HTC might drop the One M branding, and OnLeaks has posted images of a so called “prototype”, which features a USB-C port and capacitive buttons on each side of the new phone button that will house a fingerprint scanner. The edges seems oversized and at the top can be noticed the headphone jack, which sits next to the USB port (it has the same location as on the One M9). On the metal back, HTC has placed a laser autofocus beneath the flash, while the camera is rumored to support a resolution of 12MP and will be provided by Sony.
The rest of specs include a 5.15-inch QuadHD AMOLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM and three variants of internal storage with capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. The flagship will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and according to HTC CFO Chialin Chang, on the rear side will be a “very, very compelling” camera.
A while ago, it was rumored that HTC will release a second variant of the next flagship which will run on Windows Phone, but Evan Blass thinks that this will never happen. And even if the release date hasn’t been confirmed, @evleaks claims that the phone will arrive on April 19, after being unveiled on April 11. April 19 is the date that was spotted on the device’s homescreen, in the first press render that was leaked online.
We remind you that the One M9 came with a 5-inch Full HD Super LCD3 screen, it’s powered by a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 octa core processor (four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores clocked at 2GHz) that is backed by an Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM, it houses an internal memory of 32GB, expandable up to 200GB and its rear camera has been upgraded to 20MP (f/2.2), featuring autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/2.4″ sensor size, 1.2 µm pixel size etc. Those who were satisfied with the main camera from the One M8 were happy to find out that the 4MP Ultrapixel shooter was used on the front side of the One M9. As for the battery, its capacity is 2840 mAh.
