Not many people know what Google Play Services actually does, but we’re pretty sure that many of you came across it while checking your device’s Settings. The Google Play Services is helping the Google Apps along with other applications that are inside the Google Play Store and provides core functions such as privacy settings of the user, speeds up offline searches, improves the gaming performance and much more.
Nowadays, most of the applications don’t function if you don’t have the Google Play Services APK installed or updated on your mobile device, so this is the reason why you should always update it.
A new Google Play Services version has been released today. The Google Play Services 8.7.02 has 49.35MB in size and supports devices that run on Android 5.0 and above. The new update comes with a small, but significant change related to the way the Google App works in Android device.
The new Google Play Services version comes with a feature that will open links from Google app and Google Now cards search results in Chrome Custom Tabs instead of opening them into the full Chrome browser (or any browser that you have set as default).
You should know that the Chrome Custom Tabs are faster and lighter, as they use less CPU and RAM than the full browser, which means that the users will have a smoother and faster access to content.
You can download the Google Play Services 8.7.02 APK file from the internet and manually install it on your Android device. Keep in mind that you will need to enable the “Unknown Sources” option from your device’s Settings->Security or else you will not be able to install the APK file on your mobile device.
