Sony just announced its Sony Xperia XA device, which is part of the trio that represent the new X line of smartphones and has weaker specs than its siblings, but it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, as well. We’ll compare it with Microsoft’s Lumia 535, a mid-range smartphone from 2014, which still runs on Windows Phone 8.1. So, if you’re considering purchasing any of these two devices, this article will be quite useful.

Designs

The Xperia XA measures 143.6×66.8×7.9mm and weights 137.4 grams. The phone may not have the best specs, but its design will surely draw your attention, although Sony has opted for a plastic body. The phone looks great, no matter what color option you will choose: White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold or Rose Gold. On the other hand, the Microsoft Lumia 535 is thicker and heavier as it measures 140.2×72.4×8.8mm and weights 146 grams. Its back is made of glossy plastic, it’s curved on the edges and the available colors for this device are Orange, Green, White, Black, Gray and Blue.

Displays

The Xperia XA has an IPS LCD display of 5-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 294 ppi and it’s protected by a scratch-resistant glass, while the bezels are extremely thin. The Lumia 535 comes with an IPS LCD display of 5-inch that supports a lower resolution of 960×540 pixels at 220 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Xperia XA handset features a Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset, an octa-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 2.0GHz, a Mali-T860MP2 graphics card and 2GB of RAM. The Lumia 535 has been released with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 302 graphics card and only 1GB of RAM.

Storages

The Xperia XA comes with an internal storage of 16GB which you are able to expand up to 200GB using a microSD card. The Lumia 535 has an internal storage of only 8GB, but don’t worry, because you are allowed to expand its capacity up to 128GB.

Cameras

On the rear side of the Xperia XA device you’ll find a 13MP primary camera that supports LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 8MP is placed on the front side of the smartphone. The Lumia 535 comes with a primary camera of 5MP that offers LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging and a secondary camera of 5MP.

Batteries

The Xperia XA has a non-removable battery of 2300 mAh, which is lightly more powerful than the 1905 mAh battery that’s found on the Lumia 535 device. However, the battery that the Lumia 535 comes with is removable, which means that you will be able to replace it once you notice that its performance is starting to drop.
