Gaming is not getting bigger and bigger, but smaller and smaller.

Now mobile users can play Pokemon with their smartphones with the upcoming release of Pokemon GO for Android and iOS devices. Simultaneously, Niantic released Pokemon GO Plus, a tiny wearable device developed and manufactured by Nintendo connects the user to other Pokemon players via Bluetooth. It is the closest thing to becoming a true Pokemon master.

Experience Pokemon in the Real World

The Pokémon GO and Pokémon GO Plus device allows you to experience Pokemon in your own world. Interact with other Pokemon GO Plus users and explore the world of Pokemon transcended in real-life setting.

In its website, the latest Pokemon video game is said to offer players “valued open and social experiences”, which it has been the case since the first launch. Pokemon GO enables players to enjoy the game as they explore their own communities, neighborhoods, schools, and malls together with their friends.

The Pokemon GO Plus aids Pokemon GO players to experience real-life Pokemon adventure off screen as they go about finding and interacting with other Pokemon and Pokemon masters nearby. When another Pokemon is close enough for Bluetooth to sense, the app sends out alerts to the gadget bearer through LED display and vibration. The Pokemon Go Plus also has simple buttons that enables players to perform certain actions.

Making the Pokémon GO Project Possible

A new team was specifically formed for the project consisting of a number of artists and entities. The trio – Niantic, The Pokemon Company, and Nintendo – are contributing to the project as do Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda, the game director of the Pokemon game series.

These guys were working double time to come up with new ways of gameplay, adding more excitement to an already exciting game, and trying to connect the mobile version to the main series of Pokemon video games.

Release Date of Pokemon GO and GO Plus Soon

According to news reports, Pokemon GO and Pokemon GO Plus are scheduled for release in the first part of 2016. Serebii, Tsunekazu Ishihara, CE of The Pokemon Company, reportedly said that the Pokemon Go and Pokemon GO Plus would not be released worldwide in one go.

The game will be on staggered release with the Japanese being the first people to enjoy the game, followed by North Americans, then Europe. After which the game will be released in Asia, Middle East, South America and Africa.

However, there is no confirmation yet as to the final release dates and locations of Pokemon GO and GO Plus. This suggests that the supposedly staggered release might actually not happen, and every Pokemon gamer worldwide might actually come together and simultaneously enjoy the game. Who knows?

Meanwhile, it is worthwhile to witness the “Catch ‘Em All: ‘Pokemon GO’ and Real World Gaming” session to be hosted by Niantic CEO John Hanke on March 14, 2016 at the Game Developers Conference. He could spill the beans about the exact release date of the much-anticipated Pokemon game. Or perhaps, it could also be the day of the release itself. Again – who knows?
