Xiaomi has announced its latest flagship at MWC 2016 and now we can finally know what the specs and features of the Mi 5 are. This modern flagship has a design inspired from the Mi 4 and Redmi Note 2, but Xiaomi has also used elements from Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge and Apple’s iPhone 6s. The starting price of the Mi 5 will be $306 and it will be released on March 1, in China.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, which will b backed by 4GB of RAM. It will have a modest screen with a diagonal of 5.15-inch with very thin bezels, which will boast a Full HD resolution and under it will be placed a home button similar to that from Samsung’s galaxy phones, having a fingerprint scanner hidden inside it. Also, there will be a capacitive button on each side of the physical button. The back is curved on the two edges, just like the Galaxy Note 5, which makes it more comfortable to hold.

On the back side, in the upper left corner will be found the 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor that will include four-axis optical image stabilization which will help the camera take better photos in low light conditions, even if the user shakes his hand. On the front camera will be placed a 4MP camera with the Beautify feature that will make selfies look… artistic!

The phone will be powered by a 3000mAh battery which is non-removable and supports Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C charging, it offers VoLTE and NFC and on top of Android 6.0 runs Xiaomi’s custom MIUI user interface. The two variants of internal memories are 32GB and 64GB and these models have 3D glass back covers, while the Pro model will house up to 128GB of storage and its backside will be made of 3D ceramic.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi is not planning to release the Mi 5 in the West, which is quite disappointing. As for the prices, the 32GB version will cost 1999 Chinese Yuan ($306 USD and the 64GB variant will cost 2299 Chinese Yuan ($352). The buyers will pay 2699 Chinese Yuan ($413) on the 128GB Pro model.
