The LG G4 has been released last year, in April, and its successor will arrive in the same month this year. LG unveiled the G5 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 and the public was impressed of its new design, but more about it and its internal specs we’ll tell you in this article. With this new flagship, the South Korean multinational electronics company headquartered in Yeouido-dong will try to take on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices.
The LG G4 measures 148.9×76.1×9.8mm and weights 155 grams. This phone came in two variants of designs: the premium version has a back covered in genuine leather and it has vertical stitching running down the middle, while the second model has a plastic back with a 3D diamond pattern. The LG G5 is thinner and lighter, as it measures 149.4×73.9×7.7mm and weights 159 grams. Its design was completely revamped, featuring an all metal body with two rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner below them, while the physical buttons were moved to the sides of the device.
The LG G4 has an IPS LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 538 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On the other hand, the LG G5 will come with a smaller IPS LCD display of 5.3-inch which will support the same resolution, but it will give a higher pixel density of 554 and it will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The LG G4 has a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset, a hexa-core processor formed from quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.44GHz and a dual-core Cortex A57 processor clocked at 1.82GHz, an Adreno 418 graphics card and 3GB of RAM. Inside the LG G5 we will find a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, a quad-core processor formed from a dual-core Kryo processor clocked at 1.6GHz and a dual-core Kryo processor clocked at 2.15GHz, an Adreno 530 graphics card and 4GB of RAM.
The LG G4 has been released with an internal storage of 32GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. On the other hand, the LG G5 will feature an internal storage of 32GB, but you will be able to expand it up to 200GB using a microSD card.
On the rear side of the LG G4 you will find a 16MP primary camera which features laser autofocus, OIS, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 8MP is found on the front side of the smartphone. The LG G5 will come with a dual-camera setup on its rear side formed from a 16MP (f/1.8) camera + 8MP (f/2.4) camera which offer laser autofocus, OIS, LED flash, face detection, HDR, panorama, while the secondary camera has a resolution of 8MP (f/2.0).
Both devices come with removable batteries and their capacities are: 3000mAh (G4) and 2800mAh (G5).
