As the MWC 2016 event draws further closer, expectations are high that many smartphone manufacturers will be releasing new smartphones.
Some such as Samsung and LG have even confirmed that they will be attending this Barcelona-staged event, but word has not yet come out from other players such as Lenovo, which currently owns the Motorola brand. As rumors of the next flagships continue to gather, the same is also happening in the other end of the market. This year’s Moto G is expected to be released at some point, but when?
Here’s what we know so far about the release date, specifications, price as well as other rumors regarding the Moto G (2016).
The Moto G (2016) is expected to be released this year, but Motorola hasn’t said a word about the exact release date. Nonetheless, the phone might come in later on in July, based on last year’s release of Moto G (2015).
As far as the price of this phone is concerned, expect a slightly different price as compared to last year’s debut price of $179 for the 8GB model. The Moto G (2016) could attract a price tag of between $200 and $250.
Design and specifications
As far as the specifications of this year’s Moto G are concerned, all we can say for now that this device will come with Snapdragon 430 as the processor. This is with respect to Qualcomm’s revelation that all mid-level phones in 2016 will feature this SoC. This would be a decent upgrade from last year’s Snapdragon 410.
Motorola will opt for a similar or slightly larger screen for this year’s model as compared to the 3rd gen Moto G, which had a 5-inch screen and a 720p resolution. Maybe, this could move to 1080p resolution, with the screen coming with Gorilla Glass like last year’s edition.
As far as the design is concerned, leaked photos show that the Moto G (2016) will feature a sleek build, with the camera’s location appearing to be slightly higher than where it was in the 2015 model.
With the Moto G (2016) version expected to be released later this year, little is known about the specific configuration of the phone. However, latest reports suggest that this mid-range smartphone will come with a fingerprint scanner, just like the rest of Motorola phones to be unveiled in 2016.
For the rest of the phone’s features, we will keep tabs on the latest developments and keep you updated. Keep following us!
