The World Mobile Congress will kick off on February 22, in Barcelona, Spain, and will last four days. All big names in the tech industry will attend this event and will unveil their latest products. So, we’re expecting Samsung to present its latest Galaxy S7, LG will come with its G5 and Xiaomi will finally release its Mi 5. Other highlights are the fifth generation mobile networking standard and the upcoming VR headsets.

LG will hold a press conference on Sunday and will unveil the G5 flagship, which will have a “Magic Slot” that will allow users to add extra modules with camera and audio units set.

Huawei is planning to take over America, after its collaboration with Google in the production of the Nexus 6P. The Chinese manufacturer had a good start in 2016, unveiling its Mate S at CES and at the MWC 2016, it might bring a successor to the Huawei Watch smartwatch. Also, another device that might be presented at the MWC is the MateBook, which is a hybrid tablet-laptop.

Obviously, the most awaited Samsung phones are the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which will have screens with diagonals of 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch respectively. It is believed that the new models will be waterproof, will have bigger batteries and expandable storage – three features that are missing from the Galaxy S6 and its variant with a dual curved screen.

Sony will not release the next Xperia Z6 because it’s too soon, as the Z5 was unveiled in September and it hit the markets in October. However, the company has been working on a new range of smartphone and on an in-ear device which will provide audio alerts from the phone and will respond to voice commands.

Xiaomi has delayed the launch of the Mi 5 because the company is a perfectionist and wanted to create something of high quality. The device, which will have a 5.2-inch screen, will be simultaneously launched in Barcelona and in Beijing, which suggests that Xiaomi might start selling this flagship in Europe.

BlackBerry will participate to this event, as well, and will come with the Android version of the weird looking Passport smartphone.

Virtually Reality will play an important role in 2016, and we’re expecting a few headsets to be released in Barcelona: Samsung’s Gear VR, LG’s VR 360 and HTC’s Vive. The shipments for the Oculus Rift will start on March 28 and Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation VR will arrive in the first quarter of 2016.

Soon, 5G will be ready and all chipmakers, operators and carriers will want to find out more information about the fifth generation mobile networking. Intel will adopt this network technology which will bring faster speeds, but it will have fierce competitors: Huawei, Nokia and Ericsson. SK Telecom will be the first wireless telecommunications operator that will present a functioning 5G network.
