2016 is the year when virtual reality will enter our houses and Sony will surely want to be… inside! Of course, it will sell its upcoming PlayStation VR, which will be unveiled this fall, most probably, being behind the Oculus VR and HTC Vive, which are already available for preorder. If the rumors will prove to be right, then the device will be released with a price of $299, which will be much more affordable than what the other manufacturers will offer.

According to a Reddit user named sirdomino, who claimed that he spoke with a Sony representative, the PlayStation VR will be sold separately from the PS4 camera and PlayStation Move accessories. Toward the end of 2015, Sony has released a video in which were unveiled the technical specs of the upcoming headset. So, the PlayStation VR will have a 5.7-inch OLED display which will support a 960 x RGB x 1,080 pixels resolution per eye, which can refresh at a rate of 120Hz, while the latency is only 18ms and the field of view is of 100 degrees.

The device will have 3D lenses, accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, positional tracking with nine LEDs so that it can support 360-degree head tracking. Plus the 3D audio goes perfectly along with the mic and stereo jack, and the other two important features are the HDMI and USB ports.

Some of the compatible games that have been announced by Sony and will be played on PlayStation VR are: Golem, Job Simulator, 100 Ft. Robot Golf, The Modern Zombie Taxi Co., Eagle Flight, Rez Infinite, Psychonauts In The Rhombus Of Ruin and Ace Combat 7. So, if you’re interested in having a great virtual reality experience, then it’s worth waiting for the release of the PlayStation VR. Forbes has spotted an early listing for this headset on the famous Amazon store, but the price was enormous, $800. We don’t think this will be the final price of the PlayStation VR and we’re waiting for Sony to come up with more information about this device.
